One Small Step Toward Your Family History

November 2026 Family History Invitation

When was the last time you opened FamilySearch?

Perhaps you visited your family tree yesterday. Perhaps it's been several months—or even several years. Maybe you created an account long ago and haven't looked at it since.

Whatever your answer, November is a wonderful time to come back.

This month, Help Gather Israel invites you to take one simple step: Sign in to FamilySearch and rediscover your family tree.

You don't need to find a new ancestor, research an entire family line, or spend hours searching through records.

You just need to begin.

Three Easy Steps to Get Started

Step 1: Visit FamilySearch.org

Open FamilySearch.org on your phone, tablet, or computer.

FamilySearch is a free family history resource where you can discover ancestors, explore historical records, preserve family memories, and connect with your family's story.

Step 2: Sign In to Your Account

If you already have an account, sign in and take a look around.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can use their Church Account to sign in.

Can't remember your username or password? Don't let that stop you! FamilySearch provides account recovery options to help you get started again.

Step 3: Explore Your Family Tree

Once you're signed in, open your family tree.

Look for a familiar name. Select an ancestor and explore their information.

You might discover a photograph you've never seen, a family story you haven't read, or a record that tells you something new about someone who came before you.

Or perhaps you'll simply enjoy seeing familiar names again.

That's enough for today.

You Never Know What You Might Discover

Family history doesn't always begin with a major discovery.

Sometimes it begins with a single name.

A photograph of a great-grandparent. A story about a family member's childhood. A birthplace you never knew. A memory that reminds you that your ancestors were real people with families, hopes, challenges, and dreams.

Each small discovery can help us feel a little closer to those who came before us.

And as we learn about our families, we can also find meaningful opportunities to participate in the work of gathering Israel.

Need a Little Help Getting Started?
