Explore Your First Four Generations!
Discover the People Who Helped Make You Who You Are!
Have you ever wondered how much you really know about your parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents?
Your first four generations tell the beginning of your family story. They connect you to the people, places, and experiences that shaped your family.
This month, we're inviting you to explore your family tree, check the information you find, and print a copy you can keep and share.
This month's invitation is simple: Three simple steps can help you discover and preserve your family history!
Three Easy Steps:
Explore The Fan View
Sign in to FamilySearch and open your Family Tree. Explore yourself, your parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Look for missing names, dates, or places and discover how your family connects across generations.
Verify Your Family Information
Take a closer look at the names, birth dates, marriage information, and places in your first four generations. Compare what you find with family records, photographs, and available sources. Correct information when you have reliable evidence.
Print Your Family Tree
Once you've reviewed your family information, print a four-generation pedigree chart or family tree using FamilySearch's available print options. Keep a copy, share one with family, or use it to start a conversation about your ancestors.
Did You Know? A four-generation pedigree chart includes you, your parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents—up to 15 people altogether! FamilySearch lets you view your family relationships in several different ways, including pedigree and fan chart views. You may discover missing information, new family connections, or records that help you learn more about your ancestors.
Remember: Your family tree doesn't have to be perfect before you begin. If you discover missing names or dates, that's an opportunity to learn something new! Start with what you know, verify what you can, and enjoy discovering the people behind the names.
One small discovery. One eternal connection.
