Go to the Temple for Endowments!
Prepare a family name. Attend the temple. Help connect families for eternity.
The endowment is a sacred temple ordinance that teaches us about Heavenly Father's plan and the covenants we make with Him. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have the opportunity to participate in this ordinance on behalf of deceased individuals who did not receive it during their mortal lives.
You don't have to be an experienced family history researcher to participate. FamilySearch Ordinances Ready can help eligible members find available names for temple service.
This month's invitation is simple: Use Ordinances Ready to find an endowment opportunity, prepare your temple ordinance information, and attend the temple for a proxy endowment.
If you're not yet eligible to perform endowment ordinances, you can still learn how the process works and prepare for future temple service.
Three Easy Steps:
Use Ordinances Ready
Open the FamilySearch Family Tree app on your phone or visit FamilySearch on your computer. Sign in with your Church-linked account and navigate to Temple → Ordinances Ready. Choose Endowment from the list of ordinance types.
Print Your Temple Ordinance Card
FamilySearch may allow you to print a Family Ordinance Request or use a QR code on your phone. If you have a printer, follow the instructions to print the available document. The FamilySearch app provides a QR code that a temple worker can scan.
Attend the Temple
Bring your current temple recommend and the ordinance information required for your visit. Temple workers can help you. As you participate, remember that the name you carry represents a real person with a life, a family, and an eternal identity.
Did you know? The word endowment refers to a gift. In the temple, members receive instruction about God's plan, make sacred covenants, and are promised blessings associated with keeping those covenants. Members who have received their own endowment and hold a current recommend for the appropriate ordinances may participate in proxy endowments for deceased individuals.
The ordinances performed by proxy do not compel deceased individuals to accept them. We believe each person retains the freedom to choose.
Remember: You don't have to bring a large number of family names or spend hours researching before attending the temple. One available name and one meaningful temple visit are wonderful ways to participate.
If you aren't currently able to attend the temple, you can still help by researching ancestors, preserving family memories, or assisting others with FamilySearch.
Not just names. People. Not just history. Family. Not just research. Eternity.
