Go to the Temple for Sealings!
Love doesn't end when this life does.
February is a month when we celebrate love, relationships, and the people who mean the most to us. What better time to remember that Heavenly Father's plan makes it possible for family relationships to continue beyond this life?
In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, temple sealings unite families through sacred priesthood ordinances. Through family history and temple service, we can also help deceased ancestors receive sealing ordinances they did not have the opportunity to receive while living.
If you've been following our invitations, you've already explored ways to find family names, prepare temple ordinances, and participate in initiatories and endowments. Now we're taking another meaningful step: helping families be connected for eternity through temple sealings.
This month's invitation is simple: Find an eligible sealing ordinance, prepare the necessary information, and attend the temple to participate in this sacred work.
If you're not yet eligible to perform sealing ordinances, you can still learn how the process works and prepare for future temple service or to share names with the temple so others can participate.
Three Easy Steps:
Use Ordinances Ready
Choose the available sealing ordinance category. Depending on the options shown, you may be able to select sealings to parents or sealings to spouse.
Print Your Temple Ordinance Card
You may be able to print your card at home or bring the FamilySearch-generated code to the temple, where workers can assist you with printing.
Attend the Temple
Check your temple's schedule, sealing-session availability, and appointment requirements before you go. Remember to bring your temple recommend.
Did you know? Temple sealings make it possible for family relationships to continue beyond death. These sacred ordinances can be performed by proxy for deceased family members, who remain free to accept or reject them.
That means a husband and wife who never had the opportunity to be sealed during their lives may have that opportunity through temple work. Parents and children may also be connected through sealing ordinances.
The purpose is not simply to complete a record. It is to help connect real families across generations.
Remember: You don't have to discover dozens of new ancestors or prepare an entire family tree to make a difference.
Sometimes one sealing ordinance, one temple visit, or one small act of family history service is enough to begin something beautiful.
Our purpose is not to collect names. Our purpose is to connect families for eternity.
